Albatrosses - charlesbergman

These Black-browed albatrosses are so beautiful and sweet-natured. After exchanging duties at the nest, and spending an hour with each other courting and preening, the albatross who had been on the nest--the big mound they make up to sit on--spreads its wings to fly away. I knew she was leaving, and there's a poignancy to the moment that I love. I also love the lines of this photo. Saunders Island, Falkland Islands, Black-browed Albatrosses at the nest.
